乳腺癌是女性最常诊断出的肿瘤疾病。据估计，大约十分之一的女性会在一生中的某个阶段遭受这种疾病的困扰。 2022年迄今为止，已发现35,000例病例。根据国际癌症研究机构 (IARC) 的数据，2020 年全球确诊病例超过 220 万例。

大约10%的乳腺癌病例存在家庭易感因素，75%以上的乳腺癌病例发生在50岁以上，因此，发病率最高的是大多数积极工作的女性。

根据西班牙肿瘤内科协会 (SEOM) 和西班牙血清学与乳腺病理学协会 (SESPM) 的数据，目前有 14,000 名西班牙工人罹患乳腺癌。

这个数字表明，有必要制定正确重返工作岗位的措施，纳入促进因素并消除障碍或不平等。

为了预防此类癌症，早期检测计划发挥着非常积极的作用，力求在早期发现可能的肿瘤，从而增加生存机会。

目前，对于乳房X光检查检测乳腺癌的有效性已达成普遍的科学共识。因此，女性应去妇科检查，除了自我检查，发现乳房异常就医，还要保持健康的生活习惯，留意是否存在危险因素：直系亲属病史、乳房密度高、初潮提前、绝经晚、未怀孕、饮酒和肥胖等。
