# A DAY FOR COMPANIES IN THE SLATE SECTOR HAS BEEN HELD IN GALICIA

The Mutual [Fraternidad-Muprespa](/) in Galicia, in collaboration with the Galician Association of Slate Builders and the FM Prevention Society, organized last Tuesday, May 24, in the Ourense town of O Barco de Valdeorras, a Talk-Colloquium on the topic “Analysis of the problem of occupational diseases in the slate sector: prevention, economic and healthcare point of view”

This day was held in the Slate Technology Center, located in Sobradelo de Valdeorras and was attended by representatives of the main companies in the sector, led by Mr. Victor Cobo Arias y Mr. Severino González Álvarez, President and Manager respectively from the Galician Association of Pizarristas.

He presented the event Mr. Leandro de Justo Corcoba, Delegate of O Barco de Valdeorras, acting as speakers Mr. Julio Santos Palacios, Director of the Network Relations Department of Fraternidad Muprespa and Mr. Félix Villanueva Muñoz, Medical Coordinator of the XPROTX Prevention Societyeee90febXPROTX Muprespa.

After the initial presentation on the problem of the increase in occupational diseases in the area, and especially on silicosis, a lively debate took place in which the most important problems and doubts that concern companies in the sector were raised.

The event closed Mr. Hugo Ezquerra Villegas, Provincial Director of Ourense , who thanked those present for their attendance and especially to Mr. Miguel Angel Serna Galán, Territorial Director of Galicia and Asturias of Fraternidad Muprespa, to Mr. Miguel del Río López Territorial and Provincial Directors of the Prevention Society Fraternidad Muprespa respectively, as well as Mr. Javier Romero Bandeira and Mr. Miguel Núñez de Prado, new Delegate of the SPFM in Ourense.

Attendees expressed their satisfaction with the development of the day and their interest in similar initiatives being repeated in the future. Finally, some of the attendees showed their curiosity to visit one of the slate quarries in the area in situ and learn first-hand about the risks and peculiarities of the activity they carry out.
