# ANEL HAS HELD A WORK TABLE IN NAVARRA ON THE PREVENTION OF OCCUPATIONAL RISKS

01/12/2014

Day review

On November 26,ANEL organized in Navarre, a work table on the prevention of occupational risks. Risk prevention helps to be more efficient and more productive, but it must be able to be integrated into management, involve and motivate workers and be innovative to adapt to the continuous changes that companies, both large and SMEs, are experiencing. These were some of the conclusions that he raised Mr. José Francisco Rodríguez, Director of the Joint Prevention Service of Telefónica Spain.

At the meeting, in which they took part Mrs. Imelda Lorea Echavarren, General Director of Labor of the Government of Navarra,Mr. Ignacio Ugalde, President of ANEL,Mr. José Ignacio Díaz Lucas, Northern Territorial Director of Fraternidad-Muprespa and Mr. Abel Cabrerizo, Director of Relations with Associates and Communication of Fraternidad-Muprespa, the need for a change in approach was stressed that takes into account not only health surveillance, but also the global well-being of people.

Mr. Ignacio Ugalde opened the Working Group highlighting the need for meetings in which a dialogue on innovation in prevention is addressed based on the experience of committed professionals.

He then gave way to Mrs. Imelda Lorea Echavarren, General Director of Labor of the Government of Navarra, who pointed out that the accident rate, in addition to being a human drama,"it hampers the competitiveness of companies". He also addressed the lines of action that are being developed at the European, national and regional level, which take into account the changes in the population pyramid, with an older population and the incidence of occupational diseases. In this sense, he highlighted the importance of advancing the involvement of workers in prevention and taking into account new socio-occupational risks and those related to new technologies. He added that "We are working intensely on the development of the third Occupational Health Plan that also incorporates health promotion".

Telefónica has set itself the objective of "zero accidents", something that Mr. José Francisco Rodríguez, Director of Joint Prevention Service Telefónica Spain recognized that it is "very complicated, in such a labor-intensive company". Hence, prevention is approached as a process of continuous improvement in which the responsibility of the entire chain is essential, both in managers and workers.

Rodríguez assured that to offer his employees a safe work environment it is necessary to have very strict standards, beyond legal requirements. But, above all, prevention is integrated into management and is considered in each project."from design to execution".

"In prevention you can innovate", he stated, and gave as an example the collaboration with a Navarrese ladder manufacturing company, to develop models that meet the specific needs of its workers.

For your part Mr. Abel Cabrerizo, Director of Relations with Associates and Communication of

Mr. José Ignacio Díaz Lucas, Northern Territorial Director of Fraternidad-Muprespa, closed the working group by explaining the importance of external prevention services adapting to the business model. In that sense, he pointed out that "we aspire to be the Mutual Fund of Social Economy companies".
