This industrial technical engineer and senior technician in occupational risk prevention combines a track record of two decades of technical and management experience, both in the public and private spheres. Knowledgeable within the mutual field, he has held, as an official of the Board, various positions of responsibility in the preventive field, including Section Head and Regional Coordinator of Occupational Safety and Health. His vision and experience allow us to understand how this new stage is being built in Castilla-La Mancha and why believing in prevention, wanting to make it possible, is so necessary. He does so within the framework of the fifth installment of the campaign interviews \#Let'sBelieveIt, with which Fraternidad‑Muprespa reinforces its commitment to preventive culture and the Year of Safety and Health at Work 2026. 2026 has been declared the Year of Safety and Health at Work. What meaning does this declaration have for your Autonomous Community and what opportunities does it open to reinforce the preventive culture in your territory? This declaration represents an additional stimulus for the exercise of the functions in terms of occupational risk prevention that the Regional Government is assigned and that it carries out, to a greater extent through the Regional Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, but also through the action of other bodies of the Regional Administration. The development of effective public policies in this complex matter requires the involvement, collaboration and participation of both companies and workers, as well as the entities and institutions that make up the preventive community, of which the group of mutual insurance companies is a part. > The development of effective public policies on prevention requires the involvement, collaboration and participation of companies and workers, entities and institutions that make up the preventive community, among them, such as the group of mutual insurance companies. Combining individual efforts and initiatives, already important and very valuable, around a common declaration, reinforces these initiatives, exerts a multiplier effect and makes possible the establishment of collaborations and synergies that result in the aforementioned reinforcement of the preventive culture. Expressed in other terms, this declaration drives the work being done in pursuit of the shared goal of improving people's lives. How do you think the work of mutual societies fits within the preventive system of your community and what improvements or lines of work do you think could be introduced to improve the preventive culture of our mutual members? Without needing to go back too far in time, to better reflect current events, it should be noted that the mutual societies, through AMAT, participated in the design of the Strategic Agreement for the Prevention of Occupational Risks of Castilla-La Mancha, 2022-2026, the reference framework for the community's preventive system. This Agreement contemplates the implementation of certain dissemination and dissemination measures in which the mutual societies participate, either individually or collaboratively. As an example, in 2024, and it is planned for the current 2026, on the occasion of the European Week of Safety and Health at Work, conferences are organized in which expert personnel from these entities participate. These specific activities, however, are only a minimal part of the global action carried out by mutual insurance companies within the framework of their General Plan of Preventive Activities. > We are working on the configuration of a future Strategic Agreement for the prevention of occupational risks, for which we want to have, once again, the participation of mutual insurance companies. Currently, we are working on the configuration of a future Strategic Agreement, for which we want to count, once again, on the participation of the collective, since, due to their links to companies and workers, they play an important role in information and in terms of research and adaptation of preventive action to new factors that impact working conditions, such as the demographic transition, the ecological transition and digitalization. The Institute is a recently created entity. How is the implementation process going and what expectations do you have regarding its impact on reducing accidents? The Institute was created in September 2025 as a specialized body of the autonomous community for the development of effective public policies, with a comprehensive, transversal approach adapted to the current challenges of the labor market, providing new impetus to the work that the Regional Government had already been carrying out in the exercise of its powers through other administrative bodies. > We trust that the progress of the different lines of work of the Institute will accelerate the decrease in the accident rate that has been occurring in recent years in Castilla-La Mancha. Since its creation, we have deployed several lines of work that advance in parallel. On the one hand, expanding resources and implementing a new work model that allows us to diversify the field of action, specialization by subject and adaptation to new factors that impact Occupational Health and Safety. On the other hand, reinforcing links with the different agents that make up the preventive community, including mutual insurance companies, in order to promote activity and collaboration and turn the Institute into the reference and main preventive support of said community. Additionally, through a significant budgetary reinforcement, preventive activity is promoted, among other actions, through the Safer Castilla-La Mancha aid program and the launch of informative and communication campaigns in the media and social networks. We trust that the progress of the different lines of work, together with the important work carried out by the different agents of the preventive community, will accelerate the decrease in the accident rate that, in general, has been occurring in recent years in Castilla-La Mancha.
