# Fraternidad-Muprespa of Cantabria celebrates a day on workplace accidents

Prevention week

On May 3 Fraternidad-Muprespa in Cantabria in collaboration with the Cantabrian Institute of Safety and Health at Work(ICASST) has held a Conference on workplace accidents: from business leadership to the cost of non-prevention.

Managers, risk prevention technicians and other professionals from different companies have been in attendance in order to promote preventive awareness among our interest groups: mutual companies, collaborators, protected workers and employees, it is one of the strategic objectives of the Mutual Fund.

Amalio Sanchez Grande, director of ICASST, was in charge of presenting the day, who wanted to highlight the importance of prevention in the company and thanked all attendees for their presence.

The day divided into two modules began with the presentation of Alfonso Gerez Miras, Risk Prevention technician at Fraternidad-Muprespa in Almería, who spoke about leadership in prevention management in terms of safety and health at work.Leadership is a condition for success. A preventive approach will only be beneficial if it receives the support of management. Strong, visible leadership and committed managers at all levels provide the right content. In this way, it is made clear to everyone that health and safety are strategic issues in the company.

Ricardo Alonso Martínez, Risk Prevention technician at Work accidents and occupational diseases cause damage and loss. There are several methodologies to quantify them. For these calculations to be valid, they must not omit the question of who bears these costs, identifying people and groups that suffer the damage and its consequences.
