# Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in the II MCSS Social Work Conference

“Sharing experiences of social intervention in the face of permanent disability” was the motto under which social workers met during the celebration of the II Social Work Conference of Mutual Collaborators with Social Security, and in which Fraternidad-Muprespa was present.

The objective of the conference, which took place at the Asepeyo Hospital, in Coslada, was to share actions aimed at helping patients who have suffered a work accident and how to reduce its consequences, as well as improve their quality of life. The Mutual Insurance Companies manage orthopedic prostheses for these patients and also adapt their homes or vehicles.

The social workers from Fraternidad-Muprespa present at the meeting were Silvia Gómez, Arancha Caño, María Tomás Esteban, Mar Bernat, Eva Guardo, Maitane Ara and Asunción Morilla.

Mar Bernat, social worker of the Meseta Sur territorial directorate of “This knowledge of the patient will allow us to cover their changing needs at all times, through possible special benefits, offering them truly comprehensive care,” he assured.

For its part,Asuncion Morilla, a social worker from the Southern territorial directorate, focused her presentation on caregiver overload. From his experience at the Mutua, he presented the reality of people who, due to a work accident or occupational illness, become dependent for the activities of daily living and require a caregiver to look after them, practically dedicating their life to them. “In these cases, family support and advice on available aid is essential to provide them with resources that improve the quality of life of both the patient and their family,” he stated.
