# INTERESTING DAY IN MONTIEL ON PREVENTION AND RISKS IN THE OLIVE SECTOR

On November 11, a conference was held in the town of Montiel (Ciudad Real) under the title “Prevention and Risks in the Olive Sector”, organized by the Montiel City Council and Asesoría y Gestión Arcos S.L. The Mutual Collaborator with Social Security Fraternidad-Muprespa has collaborated in this interesting event, aimed mainly at companies in the olive sector in the area.

The mayor of the Montiel City Council Angel Garcia Valcárcel, presented the day and thanked the attendees and speakers for their attendance.

Next Santiago Cabuchola, head of the Occupational Health and Safety Service of the Ministry of Economy, Business and Employment of the Community Board of Castilla la Mancha, has explained the business obligations in terms of safety and health that businessmen in the agricultural sector must keep in mind when carrying out their activity.

In his speech he commented that “ In 2015 the average in this sector was one accident for every 67 workers", highlighting ""The factors that influence work accidents in this sector are usually weather, traffic and outdoor work." He has also placed special emphasis on “ "the self-employed worker who carries out his activity alone and in the event of an accident the probability of it being fatal is high as he is alone carrying out his work activity.". Next Raúl Muñoz Marín, Occupational Risk Prevention technician at Fraternidad-Muprespa, has developed a presentation on the risks in olive harvesting. He explained in detail to the attendees the protective measures that should be used to avoid a work accident as much as possible, as well as the postures to use when carrying out daily work in this sector.

The day has closed Antonio Martin Garrayo, director of the Manzanares delegation of Fraternidad-Muprespa, who thanked the speakers, attendees and organizers of the day for their participation in it.
