A sustainable hospital" was the title of the conference held today in the Hospital's assembly hall and which focused on environmental sustainability and the importance of the construction of sustainable buildings. This is an event promoted by the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security, and integrated into the so-called “Green Castellana Axis”, aimed at cultural and social activities in the center of the capital throughout the two weeks that the Summit lasts, sponsored by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition. The day focused on the technical aspects to be taken into account to build a sustainable building, as well as the requirements necessary to certify a similar building, as has happened with the Hospital, which has had the LEED Healthcare certificate since last April in its highest category, Platinum, which makes it the most sustainable hospital in Europe and one of the five most sustainable in the world. The event, which has been an absolute success in attendance, was attended by representatives of public institutions, mutual companies, companies linked to construction and the environment, and the media. They participated in the event Carlos Aranda, Managing Director of Fraternidad-Muprespa;Pedro Serrera, Deputy Director General of Information Systems and Services of Fraternidad-Muprespa;Talia Dombriz, architect expert in sustainability and efficiency certifications, and Antonio Cerezo, Industrial Engineer at Ferrovial Services. In the words of Pedro Serrera, "the Hospital's energy consumption savings are 43% in relation to a reference building. In addition, the more than 600 m 2 of photovoltaic panels installed achieve a renewable energy source that exceeds 11% of consumption. A very significant figure due to the high demand of consumption of a building that 24 hours a day, for 365 days.” For his part, Antonio Cerezo detailed the savings that come with having this very sustainable building. 8,000 liters of water are purified daily, which means that the center saves three million liters of water. tons of CO 2 that are not emitted into the atmosphere exceed 52 and the self-production of electricity allows the contracted power for the entire facility to be 235Kw, the equivalent of ten single-family homes. That the Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital is an example of sustainability and commitment is reflected in the recognitions obtained since its opening. During the day on Thursday, the Hospital receives in the Green Zone of Ifema, headquarters of the Summit, the recognition of Comunidad#PorElClima as one of the 101 initiatives of sustainable and efficient business actions, recognizing the effort to give visibility to the fight against climate change. In addition, it has also received second prize in the VII edition of the Energy Efficiency Awards, awarded by the Association of Energy Efficiency Companies delivered at the Royal Tapestry Factory of Madrid. Its sustainability, architectural characteristics and efficiency in the execution of the work earned it the award in the “best performance in energy efficiency” category. All these actions carried out during COP25 highlight Fraternidad-Muprespa's constant commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
