# WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PROTECTION OF YOUR DATA?

Next Monday, January 28, the Data Protection Day in Europe. This celebration that promotes European Commission, he Council of Europe and other organizations that ensure data protection within the European Union, has as its main objectives “ promote awareness among citizens of their rights and responsibilities in terms of data protection and privacy, disseminate the good use of personal information and promote practices that respect the rights of citizens”.

For Fraternidad-Muprespa This is a very significant day. Within the long history of more than 15 years in the implementation of new and better information systems to facilitate the management of mutual members, companies and collaborators, it has been essential to keep the management of information protection and security in mind. Proof of this is that Fraternidad-Muprespa has implemented a [Information Security Management System](/es-ES/contenidos/SEGURIDAD-DE-LA-INFORMACION-ISO-27001_2_8_60.html)(SGSI), in accordance with the ISO UNE/IEC 27001:2007 standard, having been the first Mutual Fund to certify all its computer systems under this standard.

This celebration, which is now celebrating its seventh anniversary, commemorates the anniversary of the signing in 2006 of Convention 108 of the Council of Europe for the protection of individuals with respect to the automated processing of personal data.

Coinciding with the celebration of this day, the AEPD (Spanish Data Protection Agency) organizes a commemorative day of "20 Years of Data Protection in Spain".
