The La Palma volcano and the prevention of occupational risks. Do you want to know the most important keys?
Our beloved Earth, the place where we live, is a very alive planet. Within it, a multitude of geological processes occur that give rise to impressive landscapes and formations.
But without a doubt, the best example that the Earth has its own intense activity are volcanoes, geological phenomena that are as spectacular as they are dangerous when the volcano is located near a town.
In our country, so rich and diverse from a geological point of view, the maximum volcanic expression is found in our beloved Canary Islands and, although we had not witnessed a major eruption for several decades, the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma has dominated the news, both for the spectacular images and for the damage caused to the area.
In addition to the obvious volcanic risk, there is also an important component of occupational risks for professionals who are working at the foot of the volcano such as scientists, researchers, journalists or members of the State Security Forces and Bodies, among others.
For this reason, on November 5, Fraternidad-Muprespa organized a webinar to learn about the fundamental keys of the volcano, both from a geological point of view and from the point of view of occupational safety.
To talk about such an interesting and topical topic we had the pleasure of telling with Carlos Maya, Geological Engineer and PRL Consultant at Fraternidad-Muprespa and with Julio López Gutiérrez, Geologist from the IGME (Geological and Mining Institute of Spain), who told us about his first-person experience having been in La Palma carrying out his research work on the volcano itself.
If you were not able to attend the live webinar, you can view it below:
From here we want to take the opportunity to send all our strength and a message of encouragement and hope to all the palmeros. If you want to help alleviate the effects that the inhabitants of La Palma have suffered due to the eruption, you can do so through the solidarity action developed by +compromiso, an alliance of mutual companies that was born as a result of the agreement signed between Asepeyo, Fraternidad-Muprespa and MC Mutual, Mutual Collaborators with Social Security.
