Webinar: The La Palma volcano: prevention of volcanic risks... and work
The place where we live, our beloved Earth, is a very alive planet. Within it, a multitude of geological processes occur that give rise to impressive landscapes and formations.
But without a doubt, the best example that the Earth has its own intense activity are volcanoes, geological phenomena that are as spectacular as they are dangerous when the volcano is located near a town.
In our country, so rich and diverse from a geological point of view, the maximum volcanic expression is found in our beloved Canary Islands and, although we had not witnessed a major eruption for several decades, the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma has dominated the news, both for the spectacular images and for the damage caused to the area.
In addition to the obvious volcanic risk, there is also an important component of occupational risks for professionals who are working at the foot of the volcano such as scientists, researchers, journalists or members of the State Security Forces and Bodies, among others.
The ORP is a living, changing ecosystem, where certain exceptional events change the way we approach occupational risks. In this sense, our Educational Offer continually adapts to the training needs of our mutualists. Therefore, next November 5 at 10h, Julio López Gutiérrez, Geologist from the IGME (Geological and Mining Institute of Spain), who will tell us about his first-person experience having been to La Palma carrying out his research work on the volcano itself.
Both will give us the keys about the volcano, the volcanic risk associated with it, with special emphasis on how to prevent the damage that it can cause to the safety and health of workers.
