Conference on the role of the Labor Inspection and the INSS in work accidents together with the CGS of León
On April 9, Fraternidad-Muprespa and the College of Social Graduates of León held an information day on "The role of the Labor Inspection and the INSS in work accidents", a topic of great relevance for professionals in the workplace and Social Security.
The day began with a welcome from the president of the Official College of Social Graduates, Leonardo Olivares, who thanked everyone present for their attendance and highlighted the importance of addressing such crucial issues as the management of workplace accidents.
Then the doctor José Ignacio Mora, director of the Medical Management Center of Fraternidad-Muprespa, gave a presentation on work accidents and the legislation that regulates them. It also presented a comparison at the national, provincial and local level, with the data from the province of León being especially notable in terms of its impact. He concluded his speech, referring to the recent accident that cost the lives of five miners in Asturias, underlining the importance of maintaining rigorous safety measures in work environments.
The next speaker was Carlos Iglesias, head of the León Labor Inspection, who addressed the fundamental role of said entity in the management of workplace accidents and explained the investigation and analysis procedure they carry out depending on the severity of the accidents. Iglesias presented statistics on the number of work accidents, both with sick leave, without sick leave, serious and fatal, that occurred in recent years.
The day continued with the intervention of Margaret Santos, Provincial Director of the INSS, who explained the role of the National Social Security Institute in work accidents that result in a degree of disability. Santos highlighted the legal and economic implications for companies when lack of security measures occur, placing special emphasis on the penalty surcharge. He also addressed the economic cost of temporary disability in the province of León, revealing very worrying figures.
After the presentations, a question and answer session was opened in which the attendees, more than 60 people, actively participated, generating an enriching exchange of ideas and doubts.
The day concluded with words of gratitude from the Provincial Director of Fraternidad-Muprespa in León, Maria del Carmen Ujidos, who thanked the speakers for their collaboration, the presence of the Territorial Director Centro-Grandes Mutualistas de la Mutua, Carmen Rueda, and the participation of companies, consultancies and social graduates present at the event.
