Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in the 8th International Congress of Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology
On November 29 and 30, the city of Santander hosted the 8th International Congress of Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology, organized by the Spanish Ergonomics Association and the Asturian Ergonomics Association, under the motto “Ergonomics, more than just adapting jobs.”
On the first day of the Congress,Natalia Fdez. Laviada, deputy general director of Prevention, Quality and Communication of
Fdez. Laviada highlighted that:
Leadership is a necessary factor for the health of an organization, but a leader alone hardly generates qualitative changes. At Fraternidad-Muprespa we work along these lines because we believe that leadership in health is health.
He also highlighted in his presentation that "the current way of life involves a strong dose of stress, 51% of Europeans admit to suffering from it. For 80% of managers this is very worrying, but only a third of companies have procedures to avoid it." That is why he pointed out the need to establish improvement guidelines that alleviate these figures and result in better occupational health through the following six points on which good leadership should be based.
A leader who bases his leadership on coherence, who controls stress, his own and that of others, who acts with transparency, both in results and objectives, who never gives up on the vision and improvement strategy, who is committed and does not act alone, and finally, who acts without limits, practicing shared thinking and a “feminine” mentality.

On the first day of the Congress,Fernando Corres y Ricardo Alonso, prevention technicians from Álava and Cantabria, who gave a workshop on Road safety with virtual reality.
On Friday,Mar Morales, director of prevention and DCS at Fraternidad-Muprespa, presented to Lucas Sebastian, president of ErgoAn and author of the book "Si fallar, sum. Human Error and Accidents: Analysis of Human and Organizational Factors", edited by Fraternidad-Muprespa. Sebastián gave a conference titled "Human Factor: Where are we?", in which he analyzed the ideas about this concept, which is not usually taught but is very common among prevention technicians and professionals in this field.
Its importance lies in the fact that this sector must question how to avoid certain accidents. The author detailed how for centuries the explanations for accidents, their causes and the way to avoid them evolved from mere fatality (“human error is one of the causes of accidents”), passing through the statistical cause and finally arriving at the current approach (“it is a symptom of deep problems within the system”).
