Work-related traffic accidents continue to be one of the main causes of serious workplace accidents in Spain. To face this reality, FAECTA, the Andalusian Federation of Cooperative Companies organized an online seminar aimed at these entities under the title"Occupational Road Safety: Legal Obligations", framed in its program to improve preventive culture.

The day featured David Revillo, consultant to the Department of Prevention and Health Culture of Fraternidad-Muprespa, as main speaker. Throughout his speech, Revillo addressed everything from the current regulatory framework to the specific measures that companies can adopt to protect their workers, both when traveling during the work day and when traveling to and from work.

From obligation to commitment

One of the central messages of the session was the need to go beyond simple legal compliance. "It is not enough to know the regulations"said Revillo, who added that""Organizations must integrate road safety into their preventive culture, with real involvement at all levels, from management to each worker."

The seminar, which in its final part held a colloquium, allowed attendees to raise questions and share real situations in their organizations, turning the session into a space for collective reflection as well as awareness-raising.

A funded action to reach all cooperatives

This activity is part of the project "Information program and improvement of preventive culture in cooperatives", financed by the Andalusian Institute for the Prevention of Occupational Risks of the Department of Employment, Business and Self-Employment of the Government of Andalusia.

The person responsible for the project and general director of FAECTA Sevilla is M.ª Salomé Gómez Isorna, who coordinates the different actions aimed at reinforcing the prevention of occupational risks and the preventive culture in the Andalusian cooperative environment.

They also participated as technicians in the development of the day.Eduardo Gentil  y M.ª Ángeles Maisanaba, in charge of promoting training, information and awareness-raising actions aimed at cooperatives in Andalusia.
