Heading to safety: 365 days of clinical commitment
Fraternidad-Muprespa adopted as its motto in 2022 “The Mutual Fund that takes care of you”, a slogan that adapts to the multiple facets of its activity. One of them is the care and protection of patients, and that is why the Mutual Society annually adheres to World Patient Safety Day, which is celebrated every September 17.
The objective of the World Health Organization in establishing this day was “to raise greater awareness and participation in society, expand knowledge around the world and encourage solidarity and the adoption of measures to promote patient safety worldwide.”
This year the WHO has chosen as its motto “Correct diagnoses, patients insurance!", and the purpose is insist that a correct and timely diagnosis improves patient safety, while a late or incorrect diagnosis, or the absence of a diagnosis, can prolong the disease, cause disability or even death.
Fraternidad-Muprespa, aligned with this goal, has been carrying out the project 'Heading for Safety: 365 days of clinical commitment' since the beginning of 2024, an initiative promoted by the Clinical Safety Commission of the Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital, to improve the safety culture within the Hospital and promote and disseminate the safety culture, one of the objectives of the center's Safety Plan.
Through a tour that covers the different causes that can put the patient's clinical safety at risk, all members of the hospital are invited to share valuable experiences and knowledge to identify areas for improvement.
The causes that we have been working on, each one, with its own slogan and objective, focus on the importance of incident notification, correct patient identification, hand hygiene and safety in blood transfusions.
