Investing in nursing is guaranteeing the future of health
While providing care and offering care to the sick is something that has been done since the beginning of humanity, it is relatively new that those who provide this care are publicly recognized for the care they provide, and that this recognition is through an International Day that is celebrated every year on May 12:International Nursing Day. This day is just one year away from celebrating half a century of life.
According to the CIS, the nursing group is the health personnel best rated by citizens, with 8.29, a high score whose origin may be that nursing accompanies people at all times, from before birth to the moment of death.
Hence the motto chosen by the General Council of Official Nursing Colleges of Spain be “We take care of you all your life”, because its professionals are present at every moment of people's lives, and not only actively giving vaccines, giving cures, doing periodic check-ups or prescribing drugs, but also, in a very relevant way in the promotion of health and the prevention of disease in numerous areas and scenarios: health centers, hospitals, socio-health centers, schools, laboratories and companies.
In that same aspect, in which at some point in the future we are going to have to turn to a nursing professional, the International Council of Nurses. Its motto this May 12, 2023 is "Our nurses. Our future", focusing on the fact that addressing the global health challenges we face involves the work of nursing, a key work to have healthier communities and societies with a greater capacity to react.
On the path to responding globally to different health needs, human resources are an essential part, and doing so based on good training, with trained personnel distributed equitably throughout the globe is essential to create robust health systems, meet the health needs of the population and better prepare for future threats.
In Fraternidad-Muprespa, the nursing staff received, according to the 2021 annual report, a grade of 9.4 out of 10, which represents a rating 1.2 points higher than that mentioned at the beginning. It seems that this qualification ratifies that phrase chosen as a motto by the entity and that it reaffirms the present and future commitment to ensure the well-being of our mutual members and their workers. Are “the Mutual Fund that takes care of you.”
