Dr. Bada participates in the XVI Course of Surgical Techniques in Foot and Ankle Surgery
The course on Surgical Techniques in Foot and Ankle Surgery organized by the Anatomical Research Unit in Foot and Ankle Surgery of the Human Anatomy and Embryology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona, was held on November 9 and 10 and included the participation of a professor from Dr. José Luis Bada Jaime, traumatologist from the Barcelona Delegation of Fraternidad-Muprespa, to teach the topic of “Insertional tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon”. Dr. Bada has highlighted the importance of this session since:
It is an unusual pathology in the workplace, but it can be revealed after a direct contusion on a predisposed tendon.
During his presentation, Dr. Bada explained what the predisposing factors are, as well as the conservative treatments and shared with the attendees the three most accepted surgical techniques currently: “ calcaneoplasty with bursectomy, basically via posterior ankle endoscopy, Zadeck-type calcaneal osteotomy and debridement of the tendon insertion with reinsertion of the tendon that may or may not be accompanied by transfer of the Flexor Hallucis Longus.”
This course is one of the most prestigious and popular courses held today in Spain in this specialty. Both national and Latin American students interested in foot and ankle surgical pathology participate, and it combines theoretical classes with practical sessions on a cadaver. It is directed by Dr. Xavier Martín Oliva, Professor of Anatomy at the University of Barcelona and current president of the Spanish Society of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery, SECOT.
