In the Council of Ministers on November 11, 2025, the Government declared 2026 as the Year of Safety and Health at Work, a decision that places the prevention of occupational risks at the center of the agenda and seeks to promote a profound cultural change in companies, administrations and citizens.

Through this declaration the Government reaffirms that safety and health at work is a fundamental right and a shared responsibility; that prevention regulatory adaptation to emerging risks will continue to be promoted; that permanent dissemination, awareness and information campaigns will be promoted, that research, innovation and the transfer of knowledge will be strengthened, that a policy of national and international cooperation in preventive matters will be promoted and also educational actions adapted to each teaching field.

The measure comes at a time marked by the need to reinforce the physical, mental and social well-being of workers and aims to make visible the importance of prevention as a pillar of social cohesion, economic competitiveness and sustainability of the productive system.

The strategic role of mutual companies

The declaration also focuses on the essential role of Mutual Collaborators with Social Security, which will assume a reinforced role during 2026. Their experience in the aforementioned areas makes them strategic allies to reduce workplace accidents through specific programs and technical advice; promote preventive innovation, accompany companies and self-employed workers in adapting to regulations, emerging risks and new work models, and disseminate good practices that connect technology with human quality, an approach that is increasingly valued at the institutional level.

The Mutual Funds convey, as part of their policy of action, to companies, the message of the need to prioritize safety and health at work as it is a strategic issue, while at the same time calling on the institutions to promote and support a solid and coherent preventive culture.

Because when we all believe it, prevention stops being invisible and becomes transformation.
