The bullfighter Jiménez Fortes is discharged after his surgery at the Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital
The bullfighting season has been cut short for the bullfighter Saúl Jiménez Fortes, who underwent surgery this Monday at the Fratenidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital to reconstruct his left knee after the injury he suffered on June 26 in Madrid's Plaza de Las Ventas when he was fighting the first bull of the afternoon.
"I feel good, the intervention was very favorable. The first night with a lot of pain, as is normal, but happy to start the road to recovery," the right-hander declared from his room at the hospital. The traumatologist Vicente Díez, Head of the Hospital's Lower Limb Unit, was responsible for the surgery, which was satisfactory. "He had a torn cruciate ligament. In the first MRI only one was affected, but later during the intervention they saw that the external meniscus was also affected," explained the matador.
Now Jiménez Fortes faces a period of rest of between three and four months, which will be followed by the beginning of work with physiotherapists and rehabilitators, in order to finish the year in top shape and face the next season in optimal physical shape, after the abrupt interruption of the current one.
"It was a good year, I had three bullfights in Mexico, my presentation there, and in the first bullfight in Spain, in Las Ventas, I had the mishap. An afternoon that was already greatly affected by the injury because it was at the beginning of the first bull. I am proud to have made the afternoon go ahead, but with sadness because I had a dozen contracts signed for this season, which I hope will be resumed next year," said the right-hander.
The Malaga matador, who took the alternative a decade ago, had words of praise and gratitude to the professionals who treated him at the Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital. "I already knew the center due to mishaps in Las Ventas in the past. I am very happy with the care received, with the commitment of the professionals to the patient, they are very caring and very efficient when it comes to doing all types of tests. The treatment has always been very favorable and I especially thank Dr. Díez, the entire team that has treated me and those who will see me now, physiotherapists and rehabilitators because I know their professionalism."
