Visit to the most sustainable hospital in Europe
Students of the II Edition of theSustainable Transformation Diploma organized by the CEOE - Campus, visited our Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital, located in Madrid, to see the the most sustainable hospital in Europe, accompanied by Jesús Cobaleda, course director.
Olvido Arenas, Industrial Engineer and Director of Production, Systems and Communications at the Mutua, accompanied and shared with the students some of the aspects that have led this hospital to be unique in Europe and among the six, worldwide, with theCertificationLEEDHealthcare Platinum. Olvido shared his experience and knowledge of the Hospital from its design, construction and start-up, and in particular explained some relevant aspects:
- Photovoltaic self-consumption, the installation of 100 kW useful and efficient.
- Termosolar for Domestic Hot Water, an installation whose efficiency allows them to cover between 75 and 80% of their DHW need, and reduce the use of the gas boiler.
- Efficient use of water, they have a set of facilities and measures that work in parallel to reduce water consumption.
- CertificationLEEDHealthcare Platino. A Certification that encompasses all the previous sustainability measures, and others such as thermal comfort or air quality. Habana Hospital has been one of the six hospitals in the world to achieve this certification.
The Sustainable Transformation Diploma is a training program with a duration of 70 hours, which combines academic training and real cases told first-hand by companies, in addition to a process of mentoring, offering participants a systemic vision of how sustainability can be translate into tangible economic, environmental and social results.
