Women and Health. Fraternidad-Muprespa makes visible the contribution of women to the healthcare world
The Women's Business Association (ASEM), the largest network of businesswomen, managers and professionals in Asturias, celebrated on August 8th the XV day of Businesswomen and Professionals.
The meeting, framed in the Asturias International Trade Fair in Gijón, has brought together personalities from the Asturian business community, such as, Belarmino Feito y Alberto Gonzalez, president and general director of the Asturian Federation of Businessmen (FADE), respectively; the general director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Principality,Ana Concejo, or the director of Asturex,Teresa Vigon, among others.
The chosen place, the Mirador room of the Congress Palace of the Luis Adaro Fairgrounds in Gijón, has completed the capacity since the theme chosen for this edition “ Women and Health", has aroused a lot of interest. The event, which was inaugurated by the president of ASEM,Maria Antonia Alvarez, the director of the Equality Policy Office of the Gijón City Council,Felisa Soria and the vice president of the Gijón Chamber of Commerce Pedro Lopez, has managed to make the invisible visible, recognizing the contribution of women to society. Equality must also be incorporated into daily management.
By way of introduction, Felisa Soria took the floor, urging a change in medical protocols and procedures, since, according to the speaker, today they are oriented towards the male sex.
We are the ones who take care of the elderly, the minors, with the pleasure and effort of caring. But this wear and tear is high and has an impact on health.
Day scheduled in two parts. In the first of them, the Dr. Begoña Martínez Argüelles, director of Health Care and Public Health of Area V, has conveyed through her own work and life experience, the difficulties that she has encountered in her professional path, highlighting that women, the majority in the health field, have little representation, both in the governing bodies of the Official College of Physicians itself and in the middle and management management of the Health Service of the Principality of Asturias (SESPA). After the interesting conference "... care... survive... care... live... care... shine", it has begun the second part, giving way to the round table.
Gloria Rodriguez, a professional expert in gender, has acted as moderator, and as participants;Natalia Fernández Laviada, Deputy General Director of Prevention, Quality and Communication of Adonina Tardón, professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Oviedo, has presented several of the research projects that are being carried out in the Principality of Asturias on diseases with a clear impact on women.Arantxa Cuervo, director of Neural Clinics and partner of ASEM, has discussed the role of women as caregivers, specifically in cases of neurological patients.Nieves Fernández-Tresguerres, director of Entretodos S.L. and member of ASEM has shared her experience as a businesswoman and the difficulties that this choice entailed, and finally Ester Higueras, architect and professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, has exposed the direct impact of city design on health and the needs in urban planning to achieve healthier cities.
Female leadership is not about doing the same thing more times, but about doing things in a different way.
