Conference on road safety at Fraternidad-Muprespa in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Fraternidad-Muprespa, held last Thursday the event "Are we cautious behind the wheel in order to raise awareness about the importance of a safe attitude?"
The day included the interventions of María Delgado, president of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs AJE of Las Palmas, Carlos Macho, provincial director of the Mutua in Las Palmas y Alejandro Quintana, prevention consultant for the Mutua in the province.
Carlos Macho welcomed the representatives of the ten mutual companies present to the event and focused on the importance for the Mutuals of the work they carry out together with their mutual companies in order to reduce occupational road accidents, for example through immersive virtual reality equipment, which allows 'driving' under particularly difficult conditions. In this way, it is possible to promote safe attitudes behind the wheel through a change in the perception of risk, managing to banish factors that can cause road accidents, such as alcohol, distractions or excess speed.
For his part, Alejandro Quintana elaborated on this concept and on the work of the Mutua to alleviate the damage caused by road accidents, “one of the main social and economic challenges of our time.” The change in the types of mobility and the consolidation of electronic commerce have increased the probability of suffering a traffic accident, both on mission and in itinere, that is, when going to or returning from work.
Quintana also insisted to the audience on the importance of becoming aware that not only drivers are protagonists when talking about road safety, given that pedestrians, cyclists, drivers of electric scooters, large vehicles, motorcycles, vans, or professional drivers such as taxi drivers or truck drivers, share the same roads at the same time.
Finally, Delgado closed the event by thanking the attendees for their interest and highlighting the importance of attitudes aimed at greater road safety. He also valued the work of the Mutual Funds in their field of action.
