Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in the 60th SECOT Congress
The Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, SECOT has held the 60th edition of its congress on September 27, 28 and 29 at the facilities of the Salamanca Congress Palace. The Dr. Xavier Martín Oliva, president of the SECOT, has welcomed the congress, thanking all those attending this cultural meeting that promotes the scientific exchange of professionals in the medical specialty of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology.
The trauma team at Hospital Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana has participated in different sessions. On the 27th the Dra. Rosa Corral traumatologist of the Lower Limb unit, has participated as moderator of the table “What keeps me up at night about surgery tomorrow?”.
On the same day in the over-the-knee communications space, the Dr. Tomás Losa Cuadrado, MIR R5, has defended the study on the “Clinical outcome 2 years after meniscal suture in patients with high functional demands in the workplace” carried out together with the Dr. Vicente Ángel Díez, head of the Member Traumatology Unit Bottom, the Dr. Lola Garrido Pozo and the Dr. Elena García Elías, traumatologists of this unit and the Dra. Marta Pérez Rodríguez, MIR R4.
In the shoulder communications the Dra. Claudia Anduaga Torres, MIR R3, has presented her study of the “Evaluation of results of lower trapezius transfers with Achilles allograft for posterosuperior cuff tears in the workplace” carried out together at Dr. Ignacio Gónzalez Gómez, head of the Shoulder and Elbow Unit, the Dr. Andrea Paniagua Gonzalez, traumatologist from the same unit, Dr. Tomas Losa Cuadrado and the Dr.Javier Chacón García, MIR R2.
From the IT Care Coordination and Control Center of the Mutual on Dr. José Ignacio Mora, director of the center, has participated in the two sessions of SETLA (Spanish Society of Occupational Traumatology) held on the 29th, the first on “Cervical Whiplash. Implications medico-legal” with a presentation of clinical cases in which the importance of the socioeconomic and legal cost of whiplash was finally pointed out, with a cost between 700 and 2,000 million per year depending on the expenses included, highlighting the important role of the doctor and his clinical assessment, taking into account the variability of the symptoms that this presents. syndrome. In the second session with the title “Trick or treat in work trauma” Dr. Mora has participated with the presentation “Your brother-in-law has had a work accident. Guide to get through Sunday lunch successfully” on which he insisted in the need to be clear about the concepts of work accidents, both those that occur at the time and place of work and those on the go, and the doubts that work accidents have in relation to teleworking were also discussed.
In addition the Dr. Reinaldo Márquez Rodríguez, attending physician at the Ripollet Delegation (Barcelona) presented two posters: ”Acromiohumeral distance and its relationship with supraspinatus ruptures evaluated by ultrasound in the working population” and “Use of ultrasound in instability of the long head of the biceps tendon and rotator interval injuries” in both studies highlights the advantages of ultrasound to be able to perform a dynamic study of the shoulder, being a non-invasive and very useful test.
Also the Dr. Javier Chacón García, MIR R2 presented the poster with the title “Treatment of multiligamentous knee injury: about a case” with a study on the existing controversy regarding the type of surgical treatment, whether to perform it in one or two stages, or to repair or reconstruct the injured ligaments.
The congress has been chaired by Dr. Juan F. Blanco Blanco, head of service of the Hospital Universitario de Salamanca that has conveyed its enthusiasm for hosting the congress, inviting attendees to enjoy this city, a symbol of university tradition, modern and with a cultural background that makes its essential visit.
