AMAT CREATES A WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY DISTINCTION FOR COMPANIES

The Association of Work Accident Insurance Companies (AMAT) has created a Safety and Security Distinction.Occupational Health aimed at motivating Spanish companies to improve their accident results at work.

Under the name of “AMAT Guarantee” The Association of Mutual Insurance Companies for Work Accidents, AMAT, has created a Occupational Health and Safety Badge aimed at motivating Spanish companies to improve their results in terms of Work Accidents and Occupational Diseases.

The distinction guarantees that companies that have obtained it have had an average accident rate in the last three years lower than the average rate for their sector of activity, and that they have had no fatal work accidents in the thirty-six months immediately prior to its granting.

This badge can be requested by companies through the web address www.garantiamat.es , and if they obtain it, with its use they will be able to publicly express their concern and good results in workplace accidents.

Companies may use the badge as other quality and environmental seals are used, that is, printing it on their stationery, on the containers and packaging of their products, requiring it in contract clauses, etc.

This Occupational Health and Safety Badge is conceived as something that is much more than a symbol, is a moral duty, an inalienable aspiration for every businessman, which will undoubtedly serve as another factor to be considered by potential, and already existing, clients and workers in their labor and commercial relationships with the company. In this sense the “AMAT Guarantee It is aimed at facilitating the materialization of competitive strategies, increasing the differentiation of the company that has obtained the distinction compared to its competitors, and implicitly, reducing the direct and indirect costs derived from work accidents.

The “AMAT Guarantee It aims to induce companies to integrate occupational risk prevention into their management and to achieve a reduction in work accidents and occupational diseases. Likewise, in the event that the company has already achieved the objectives and already has the badge, the aim is to induce companies to do everything necessary to be able to continue using it.

The “AMAT Guarantee It is valid annually from the date of its issuance, and after this period, the company must request its renewal if it wishes to continue using it, for which it will be evaluated whether the requirements at that time for its granting are met.

To promote the voluntary application by companies in the “AMAT Guarantee”, As well as to produce a chain effect between clients-suppliers who have the badge, AMAT is carrying out an information campaign in order to give it a positive connotation and recognition among employers, workers and society.

When the computer application is available with all the company's data, it will evaluate its situation and, if it meets the requirements, it will be granted the use of the Occupational Health and Safety Badge, in the forms, terms and conditions indicated in the corresponding section of the web address www.garantiamat.es. On this website there is a section in which the contact information of the companies that obtain the badge will be automatically added, if they are interested, and which can be segmented using filters of economic activity and province.

The promotion of this Occupational Health and Safety Badge which has already started, plans:

• Promotion between business associations and entrepreneurs, for which posters have been created.
• Calling press conferences and issuing press releases.
• Insertion of advertisements and articles in magazines aimed at businessmen.
• Insertion of advertising in Internet and Web portals aimed at entrepreneurs.
• Informative website of the program.
• Direct Marketing Actions, aimed at more than 250,000 entrepreneurs.
