Social Security is a protection system that societies and their States provide to individuals and families to ensure access to medical care and guarantee economic benefits, particularly in the event of old age or retirement, unemployment, common illness, disability, work accident, occupational illness, birth and care of a minor, widowhood or loss of household income.
