The Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital contributes to recycling to change lives and protect the environment

The Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital has made it easier for HUMANA, People for People Foundation, install a selective collection point for textile waste in one of the parking spaces in basement -1, with the collaboration of EYSA, the company awarded the management of the garage. It is a collaboration born to last over time and to which both employees of the center, patients and any visitor can contribute.

Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo is an organization that since 1987 has promoted environmental protection through the reuse of textiles and carries out cooperation programs in Africa, Latin America and Asia, as well as local aid in Spain. As a specialist in preparation for reuse, it manages donations of used clothing and footwear to obtain the maximum use of this type of waste, giving it a second life and thereby promoting a circular economy model and the protection of the environment, since the emission of greenhouse gases is avoided. The European Commission estimates that every kilo of clothing that is reused and not incinerated prevents the emission of 3,169 kg of CO2. With the funds obtained from the management of used textiles, the Foundation's development cooperation projects are financed and developed.

You can donate all types of clothing, accessories, shoes and home textiles. It is desirable that the genre be in good condition. To deposit it at the collection point, you must first put it in a bag and close it. The collected garments are treated in the preparation plant for reuse, located in Leganés and then there are several destinations: 52% are prepared for reuse, 37% are sold to textile recycling companies because they cannot be reused due to their condition, 9% are sent to a waste treatment center for final disposal and 2% are improper waste (plastic, cardboard, etc.) that are placed in the hands of corresponding authorized managers.
