2023 Traffic Workplace Accident Report
The National Institute of Safety and Health at Work (INSST) has just published the technical document: "Report on traffic accidents at work. Data 2023".
This work attempts to delve deeper into the fundamental and differentiating characteristics of traffic accidents at work (ALT) during the work day and those that are in itinere. We also proceed to study them separately and fatal ALTs are analyzed from this same perspective given their percentage weight within traffic accidents at work.
Of the total of 647,495 work accidents with sick leave that occurred in 2023 in Spain, 75,979 were traffic accidents, which represents 11.7% of the total work accidents, and of them, 70.6% were accidents in itínere.
In terms of severity, the percentage weight of ALT in minor work accidents is 11.6% and this increases progressively as the accidents become more serious. Thus, ALTs represent 21.9% of serious work accidents and, in the case of fatal work accidents, ALTs constitute 29.7%.
