25 years of the Prevention Law
The Law 31/1995 on Occupational Risk Prevention celebrated its 25th anniversary on November 8 in a socioeconomic scenario completely different from that of its origin and with a health epidemic situation of enormous difficulty for companies and workers.
The balance of these 25 years of our reference regulations is undoubtedly positive, since one of its essential objectives has been achieved, which was to move from the reactive approach of repairing damage to a proactive approach and to work on preventing risk and for the comprehensive well-being of the worker. However, the high rates of accidents and absenteeism remind us that prevention, in many companies and sectors of activity, continues to be a task to be implemented and developed more effectively and that there is still a lot of work to do.
After these years of the law we see that fewer workers are exposed to physical risks but other emerging risks prevail, such as those related to new forms of work organization or psychosocial risks.
For all these reasons, the most important thing must be the health of the worker and their safety and well-being, which have been at the center of the company's preventive policies, creating safe and healthy work environments, because this has a positive impact on the company by reducing accidents, improving the health of the worker, their environment, and the projection to clients or collaborators.
25 years after the Occupational Risk Prevention Law, we must continue working to achieve the implementation of a true preventive culture in companies with the final objective of reduce and eliminate occupational accidents.
Taking advantage of this occasion at Fraternidad-Muprespa we want to remind you of our Vision Zero program, the ISSA's global campaign in favor of zero accidents, illnesses and injuries at work that seeks to promote a preventive culture in organizations. At our Mutual Fund we are convinced of the importance of this change and that is why we are now Vision Zero (click here for more information).
