Last February 23, Fraternidad-Muprespa celebrated a new edition of its Educational Offer. On this occasion, we dedicated a day to occupational road safety under the title: "Accidents with electric scooters. A growing problem and cause for business concern", , which was , given by, the prevention consultants of our Mutua, José Luis Fernández, Rafael Reyes and David Revillo.

Electric scooters and by extension personal mobility vehicles (VMP) are an economical, sustainable means of transportation, easy to transport and convenient to store at origin and destination, which is why they have become a mobility resource in urban centers. The pandemic situation has encouraged users to opt for this means of individual transportation to go to or return from work to the detriment of collective transportation. Furthermore, in the business field we are witnessing an increase in last-mile delivery that invites companies in the sector to use scooters as work equipment.

Precisely this past Monday, March 21, the new Traffic and Road Safety Law came into force, with measures that address the accident rate associated with this type of vehicle. The question that arises is: do we as users know how to use them safely?

In the workplace we detect an increase in accidents associated with this type of mobility, with accidents of varying severity, which generate irreparable human damage, but also a growing business cost. Throughout the day we have reflected on this type of mobility, analyzed the current regulations, considered whether it would be possible to improve our attitude when driving these vehicles and shared preventive measures to be implemented to reduce this type of road accidents from a business point of view.
