The Association for the Study of Spinal Cord Injury (AESLEME), has presented its report on road safety corresponding to the year 2020. Among the actions they have carried out last year, is their participation as a collaborator of Fraternidad-Muprespa en la III Semana de la Seguridad Vial Laboral (SVL) celebrada del 4 al 15 de noviembre, coincidiendo con el Día Mundial en Recuerdo a las Víctimas por Accidentes de Tráfico.  Among the actions developed in this Third Week, the holding of a Virtual Congress stands out in which topics such as mobility in times of pandemic, essential sectors, vulnerable groups, awareness and communication, the human factor and the vehicle factor were addressed.

Mar Cogollos, as General Director, was present at both the institutional opening day: “Distance saves lives”, and at the FRATERTALK #6: "AESLEME: 30 years for and for road safety". In his participation, he analyzed the role of companies in reducing work-related road accidents and the 30 years that his Association has been working for a society without victims.

AESLEME, has been developing its work for 30 years, reaching with its awareness campaigns our about 5 and a half million people. For the Association, “information, education and awareness is the basis for “safe, sustainable and accessible”.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, AESLEME has been able to continue with its prevention and awareness programs, with the number of direct beneficiaries being 96,817 people (mainly children and young people).  In line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the II Decade of road safety action that the United Nations has set from 2021-2030 to reduce by half the number of people killed and seriously injured in road accidents, for AESLEME, “the objective ZERO VICTIMS must be our goal as a society and our contribution to achieving this objective is based on the development of educational, preventive and awareness campaigns, through education in values, to achieve an attitudinal change, since we have no doubt that road traffic education and information continues, from childhood, and throughout life, it is essential to combat accidents.”
