The National Institute of Safety and Health at Work (INSST) has recently published the document: "Analysis of the causes of fatal accidents in priority activities - Year 2024" a report in which the causes of fatal work accidents in the priority activities corresponding to the period are analyzed 2020-2022.

This work is within the framework of the first objective of the Spanish Strategy for Safety and Health at Work 2023-2027, which includes the improvement of the prevention of work accidents and in its first action plan, planned for the period 23-24, there is a commitment to delve into the causes of fatal work accidents and compliance with preventive measures, in those economic activities that are especially affected.

There is a working group made up of technical personnel from the autonomous communities and the INSST, which delves into the multicausality of fatal accidents, since in work accidents it is maintained that there are multiple interconnected factors that contribute to their occurrence and it is unusual for an accident to be caused by a single cause. Under this premise, this national working group carries out a continuous study of fatal work accidents that arrive from the autonomous communities and is subsequently analyzed for analysis.
