Annual report on work accidents in 2020
The National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST) has presented the document titled Annual report on workplace accidents 2020.
The document reflects how during the year 2020, workplace accidents have been directly affected by the outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the crisis derived from the pandemic required the adoption of various labor and social restrictions in Spain, which had an impact on the working population and as a consequence of this impact, the data reflected in this report is of an exceptional nature.
Specifically in 2020, there were 2,455 work accidents with sick leave and 327 commuting accidents per 100,000 workers affiliated with Social Security, 18.7% and 30.7% less than in 2019, respectively.
Likewise, in our country during the past year, 505,528 work accidents with sick leave were recorded, the majority being during the working day, specifically 446,195 accidents, which represent 88.3%. The rest, 59,333 accidents, took place during the journey from home to work or vice versa and are what are called in itinere work accidents.
Despite the great evolution experienced in our country in terms of prevention, the accident figures show that there is still much to do, therefore, in Fraternidad-Muprespa our objective Our priority continues to be to help our member companies avoid workplace accidents and occupational diseases, creating a true preventive culture in their organizations that puts safety before any other circumstance.
