Last week the Basque Occupational Health and Safety Strategy 2021-2026 was presented, approved by the General Council of the Basque Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Osalan) and which aims to preserve people's health and ensure that work is a source of health, improving its conditions and the quality of the working life of its population. autonomous community.

The strategy seeks to plan actions that contribute to improving the prevention of occupational risks and protect the health of the working population in order to face the challenges posed, for example, the greater exposure to psychosocial risk factors due to the pandemic, the rise of teleworking, digitalization or robotization and artificial intelligence.

The priority lines of the document are to place people at the center of attention and observe the social determinants that generate inequalities, acting in favor of the groups with the most difficulties in implementing prevention (micro-SMEs, self-employed personnel, hospitality or commerce), integrating the gender perspective and reducing inequalities that may occur due to age or other factors.
