Reckless driving can change the destiny of your life is the main idea of the campaign that has been launched on the occasion of the San Juan festivities, by the Abertis Foundation, together with Autopistas, the Guttmann Institute, the Red Cross and the General Directorate of Traffic.

To do this, they have prepared a video in which they remind us that imprudence, such as exceeding the speed limits, drinking one too many drinks or taking drugs and driving afterwards or answering a message on the cell phone or answering a call while behind the wheel, can change our lives definitively. All of this becomes especially important when the data tells us that more than 50% of drivers exceed the established speed limits and 40% of young people use their cell phones while driving.

According to the Observatory on Driver Behavior on the highway network during the Covid-19 pandemic, 58% of light vehicles and 53% of heavy vehicles exceeded the established speed limit. The reduction in traffic due to mobility restrictions caused overconfidence in drivers who stepped on the accelerator more.

For all these reasons, this campaign insists at this time when mobility is recovering and the population is mostly moving again, on maintaining full attention while driving and avoiding distractions behind the wheel.
