On Saturday, August 22, 2020, planet Earth reached its natural overcapacity date, that is, even though the month of August has not ended, we have already consumed all the natural resources that we had planned for this year. And what does it imply? That everything we are consuming since that day we are doing at the expense of the resources of future years, to understand it better, we are living at the expense of the resources of future generations.

The date that marks the point of annual overexploitation of our planet is called 'Overshoot day' or 'Overcapacity Day' and represents a powerful and critical wake-up call about the urgent need to transform our economic and consumption model.

While it is true that last year on July 29, the planet's overcapacity limit had already been reached (24 days earlier than in 2020), we cannot ignore that the global confinement forced by the current crisis with the paralysis of economic activities has radically conditioned this specific reduction, that is, there has not been a “negotiated” and planned correspondence in advance to achieve this reduction, but rather they have had to intervene in the equation factors beyond the will of man to achieve it (probably the only positive aspect that can be attributed to the coronavirus), but what about next year? Can we consider that this decline will have a lasting effect? Well, most likely not.

We cannot disguise reality, we need to delay that date even further. It would be necessary to reduce the overcapacity date by 4.5 days per year over the next 30 years, so that in 2050 we can once again be within the limits that the planet allows us. That is why our actions, yours, mine, those of each of us at a particular level, prioritize the conservation of biodiversity, commit to food sustainability and the optimization of natural resources. In and actions that make our environment a much healthier environment.Fraternidad-Muprespa, in its commitment to the protection of the environment, including the prevention of pollution and other specific commitments relevant to the context of the organization, establishes and guarantees compliance with the following principles of action:

In Spain, the date of the Earth's natural overcapacity in 2020 arrived on May 27, the equivalent of 2.5 planets.

We must be fast and effective when adopting both global and individual solutions. It is not negotiable to trust our sustainability model only to the impact of future pandemics, viruses or any other scourge of an unknown nature.

We are thousands and we are all together in the same place, if a few are unconcerned or do not want to think of solutions, is it a matter of resigning? join the action, many simple changes are a great success, if you want, you can be different and escape from inaction, so that our planet does not lose its color do you want to be green?
