Compilation of safety regulations in industrial facilities
The Ministry of Industry and Tourism, together with the Official State Gazette, has recently published a comprehensive update of the Industrial Safety Code applicable to industrial facilities. This edition, valid since May 2025, compiles and organizes all the essential national regulations to guarantee technical safety in strategic sectors such as gas, oil, chemicals, electricity and industrial refrigeration.
Among the main regulatory bodies included, the Technical regulation for the distribution and use of gaseous fuels (RD 919/2006), the Regulation of oil installations (RD 2085/1994), stand out. the Regulation for the storage of chemical products (RD 656/2017), as well as the regulations applicable to high and low voltage electrical lines and installations (RD 223/2008 and RD 842/2002, among others).
Each regulation is accompanied by its respective Complementary Technical Instructions (ITC), which detail the design, installation, maintenance, inspection and safety conditions applicable to the different types of industrial facilities. This includes everything from LPG storage centers to gas service stations, refrigeration facilities or infrastructure for recharging electric vehicles.
This update is especially relevant for technicians, engineers, installation companies, maintenance managers and auditors, as it provides a unified and updated regulatory framework that facilitates compliance with legal requirements regarding industrial safety.
