Guide to comprehensive health and occupational well-being in SMEs

The Institute of Occupational Health and Safety of Galicia has presented last week a new publication entitled: "Comprehensive health and occupational well-being in SMEs" which aims to serve as guidance for the development of programs and actions in this area within small and medium-sized companies.

This document seeks to address challenges such as work absenteeism as well as other issues related to productivity and stress at work. In fact, this publication addresses issues such as return to work programs after a sick leave situation and health and well-being programs, which include suggestions for key elements to take into account such as the promotion of healthy practices and habits, the implementation of health campaigns, programs that facilitate work-life balance.

The guide also highlights the benefits of implementing health and well-being programs at work, such as improving the health of workers, increasing productivity and talent retention, or improving the work environment, among others. It also includes aspects related to professional, physical, mental and emotional, family and social and financial well-being, it contains examples of actions that turned out to be effective in companies in the field of safety and health at work and advice for stress management, guidelines to promote healthy eating in an SME or actions to encourage the practice of regular physical exercise.
