Implementation of the Spanish Strategy for Safety and Health at Work 2023-2027

The National Commission for Safety and Health at Work approved last week the first: "Action Plan for the implementation of the Spanish Strategy for Safety and Health at Work 2023-2027 (EESST)".

This first action plan includes 106 measures aimed at achieving the 6 objectives of the Strategy to be executed, or begin its execution, between 2023 and 2024:

• Objective 1: Improving the prevention of occupational diseases and work accidents.
• Objective 2: The management of changes derived from new forms of work organization.
• Objective 3: Improving health and safety management in SMEs.
• Objective 4: Strengthen the protection of workers in situations of greater risk or vulnerability.
• Objective 5: introduce the gender perspective in the field of safety and health at work.
• Objective 6: Strengthen the national occupational health and safety system.

The document has been designed so that in the “responsible” field the institution or organization in charge of its initiation and coordination is indicated. The agents who are respectively key to guaranteeing the efficiency of the measure will participate in its development and execution. In the case of social partners, the most representative business and union organizations will be understood as such.

Each measure is also assigned process and/or result indicators, which will facilitate the monitoring, promotion and evaluation of the Strategy and in the development of all measures aimed at adapting or modifying the regulations, the consultation and participation of the most representative business and union organizations will be guaranteed, in accordance with the provisions of article 6 of the Prevention Law, except for cases of extraordinary and urgent need.
