Modification of the Royal Decree on exposure to carcinogens during work
Recently published in the BOE, Royal Decree 612/2024, of July 2, which modifies Royal Decree 665/1997, of May 12, on the protection of workers against risks related to exposure to carcinogens during work.
In its single article, different articles and several provisions and annexes of RD 665/1997 are modified and the main novelty lies in the introduction of reprotoxic agents (agents that can have adverse effects on the sexual function and fertility of adult men and women, as well as on the development of descendants)
Among other modifications, new definitions have been introduced, providing for the specificities derived from the existence of reprotoxic agents, depending on whether or not they have thresholds, and a specific conservation period for certain documents has been established.
The developments are not limited to this issue since the training and information provided to workers on the subject is reinforced, the incorporation of up to fourteen new agents in the table of occupational exposure limit values in Annex III, as well as the establishment, in the new Annex III bis, of a biological limit value for lead in blood and the circumstances in which biological control should be carried out.
