On December 8, the Official State Gazette published Royal Decree 1076/2021 of December 7, which modifies Royal Decree 773/1997 of May 30, on minimum health and safety provisions related to the use of protective equipment by workers individual.

The standard is updated in order to incorporate the content of EU Directive 2019/1832 and adjust its annexes to those included in the aforementioned directive to guarantee that the personal protective equipment that employers provide to their workers respect the requirements established in European Regulation 2016/425.

This seeks to avoid contradictions between the regulations relating to the design, manufacture and marketing of personal protective equipment and the regulations regarding their use. Likewise, with this Royal Decree, progress is made in the fulfillment of goal 8.8 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, that is, in protecting labor rights and promoting a safe and risk-free work environment for all workers, including migrant workers, particularly migrant women and people with precarious jobs.
