Modified the Royal Decree on protection against exposure to carcinogens at work
The Official State Gazette published last June of Royal Decree 427/2021, of June 15, which modifies Royal Decree 665/1997, of May 12, on the protection of workers against risks related to exposure to carcinogens during work.
This modification is made to comply with the obligation to incorporate the content of Directive (EU) 2019/130 of the European Parliament by updating its annexes to add new works and to incorporate the new agents of the directive, some with their corresponding limit value.
With the modification of this standard, the level of protection of the health and safety of workers at work will increase, given that the implementation of limit values for certain carcinogenic or mutagenic agents will contribute to significantly reducing the risks derived from these exposures.
In Annex I, work that involves skin exposure to mineral oils previously used in internal combustion engines to lubricate and cool the moving elements of the engine and work that involves exposure to emissions from diesel engines is added to the list of substances, mixtures and procedures. For its part, Annex III adds different agents, some with their corresponding limit value such as trichloroethylene, ethylene dichloride or emissions from diesel engines.
