Nanomaterials and occupational risk prevention
As nanotechnology advances, applications are being found for nanomaterials in healthcare, electronics, cosmetics, textiles, computing and environmental protection, but their properties are not always well identified and require an assessment of the risks of possible exposures that arise during their manufacture and use.
This is an increasingly present field in the prevention of occupational risks and as proof of this the next May 8 the INSST within its informative and training activities carries out the course “Occupational exposure to nanomaterials” (More information).
Also related to this matter, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work has published the information sheet “Nanomaterials billed at the workplace”.
This publication is part of its European-wide campaign in 2018 and 2019 to promote the prevention of the risks posed by dangerous substances in the workplace called “Healthy Workplaces: alert against dangerous substances”. The European Agency's fact sheet provides an overview on how to manage manufactured nanomaterials in the workplace.
