New data on exposure to hazardous substances at work
EU-OSHA is the Information Agency of the European Union for safety and health at work which focuses on developing, collecting and providing information, analysis and tools to increase knowledge, raise awareness and exchange information and good practices on safety and health at work.
The report “A data-driven method for assessing exposure to hazardous substances in EU workplaces” has recently been published. The document sets out the basis for a data-based methodology to assess exposure to hazardous substances in EU workplaces, and to provide a basis for monitoring trends and developments in exposure and use.
The report summarizes the approach used (combining publicly available data sources with expert assessments and input) to identify and prioritize hazardous substances of concern.
The aim was not only to obtain an overview of the use of hazardous substances, but also to create a methodology that could be used again to monitor trends and future developments.
