The National Institute of Safety and Hygiene at Work has edited the triptych: “The sea gives you life, don't let it take it away from you. Work accidents in fishing.”

Fishing is a sector with a high accident rate and data from official statistics indicate that the most frequent causes of accidents in this sector are falls to the same and different levels, both on the boat and at sea, followed by overexertion. Regarding work accidents on ships, the most common are blows with stationary and moving objects, cuts and accidents with machines.

The triptych aims to draw attention to these situations and show some of the main preventive measures that can be adopted to avoid them and summarizes the main obligations and responsibilities that both the captain or skipper has in preventive matters, as responsible for guaranteeing safety and health on board the ship, and the sea workers themselves who, with their actions, must collaborate for the safety of all crew members.
