News in the INSST technical calculators
Last week INSST presented two new features in its technical calculators related to the storage of chemical products and the estimated thermal overload.
The Estimated thermal overload year 2025 calculator is a computer tool that allows the evaluation of the risk of thermal stress following the criteria of the UNE-EN ISO 7933:2023 Ergonomics of the thermal environment standard. The calculation takes into account, among others, the duration of the activity, the environmental conditions in which it is carried out, the metabolic consumption and the work clothes used. It is concluded whether they can cause thermal stress to the worker and, if so, the maximum permissible time is provided for the reference levels of the internal temperature or the accumulated loss of water through sweating.
On the other hand, the calculator and app Storage of chemical products. Regulation APQ year 2025 is a computer tool whose objectives are, on the one hand, to check whether the Regulation on the Storage of Chemical Products (Royal Decree 656/2017) applies to a given situation based on the danger indications and the quantities to be stored and, on the other hand, to determine whether the joint storage of two or more chemical substances is compatible.
