This intervention is part of the Framework Agreement that the University of Cantabria has signed with Fraternidad-Muprespa, Mutual Collaborator with Social Security. The objective of this postgraduate degree is the training of professionals who are capable of directing processes of change and innovation in health and social systems, from a theoretical basis, providing knowledge of the most current management and direction techniques and innovations.
In this edition Laviada explained the journey of the mutual insurance sector since its creation in 1900, highlighting two important milestones in its evolution. The first, a turning point in 1966, a key year in the evolution of work accident mutual insurance companies with the Social Security Basis Law of 1966 that eliminated the participation of insurance companies in the coverage of this risk, until 2014, with Law 35/2014.
Mutual societies carry out their main activities in the professional contingency, being entrusted with the management of economic and health care benefits, including rehabilitation and prevention activities, which exempt the protective action of Social Security, the economic benefit of temporary disability due to common contingency or the management of the Risk Benefit during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding (PREL), the Cessation of Activity of Self-Employed Workers (CATA) and the Care of Minors Affected by Cancer or another serious illness (CUME).
During the presentation, the professionals studying the master's degree were able to discuss clear and precise issues, understanding what the commitments of the mutual societies are, the goodness of the services offered, the vision of efficiency and transparency or the benefits offered to citizens. The best way to bring MCSS services closer to professionals is to share with them the knowledge acquired, explaining first-hand the value of experts and detailing the diversity of contributions made to society.
Once again, Fraternidad-Muprespa continues its commitment to training, transparency and collaboration with different organizations and entities.
