Prevention is the best Plan against Accidents
The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, the Labor and Social Security Inspection and the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work have launched this year the Shock Plan against fatal accidents at work.
Throughout 2022, awareness-raising actions will be carried out on social networks and materials with messages and technical recommendations to prevent fatal work accidents will be incorporated into the INSST page.
The objective of the plan is to fight against fatal workplace accidents, specifically reducing the incidence rates of this type of accident and reducing the severity of the damage caused to the health of workers. The premise is to ensure that no person loses their life in the workplace, promoting measures to achieve safe work environments that guarantee the health of workers and within the framework: "Vision zero deaths at work".
The campaign is directed not only at the sectors or activities that have a higher accident rate, but also at priority activities based on their fatal accident rate and the affected working population, but identifying the specific causes and ways in which fatal accidents mostly occur. In this way, priority activities will be addressed to the agricultural sector (due to its impact on the use of machinery), fishing (to prevent drownings, loss of control, falls or effects of adverse weather conditions), construction, industry (accidents with machinery) and services, in the latter case affecting road transport.
