The National Institute of Safety and Health at Work has recently published a document entitled: "Psychosocial risk factors and associated risks in road transport" which is part of the development of the Action Plan of the Spanish Strategy for Safety and Health at Work 2015-2020, and which includes the drive to improve working conditions in sectors and activities with high incidence rates of work accidents and occupational diseases; and establishes the promotion of occupational road safety with the objective of reducing occupational traffic accidents.

The document addresses relevant issues for the prevention of psychosocial risks in the workplace in the land road transport sector and, especially, in the main activity associated with the sector, which is driving vehicles. The document is structured in two blocks: the first, of a general nature, is the one that frames the sector as a whole and describes the most common psychosocial risk factors and the main health consequences to which they can give rise and some preventive measures that are general to the entire transport sector; the second, structured in five parts, each of which corresponds to a specific driving activity, which includes the most important psychosocial aspects of each activity: collective road transport (buses), taxis, road medical transport (ambulances) in terms of passenger transport (special transports in the case of ambulances), transport of goods (trucks) and courier, parcels and minor loads.
