Report on traffic accidents at work in 2022

The INSST has just published the: "Traffic Workplace Accident Report 2022", a report that has been prepared since 2007 that collects data related to traffic-related work accidents.

The report attempts to delve into the fundamental and differentiating characteristics of the so-called occupational traffic accidents (ALT) during the work day and ALT in itínere and se proceeds to study them separately. Likewise, fatal ALTs are analyzed from this same perspective given their percentage weight within the group.

Of the total of 653,510 work accidents with sick leave that occurred in 2022 in Spain, 73,522 were traffic accidents, which represent 11.3% of the total work accidents, and of them, 68.7% were accidents in itinere.

In terms of severity, the percentage weight of ALT in minor work accidents is 11.2% and this increases progressively as the accidents become more serious, thus, ALT represent 21.2% of serious work accidents and in the case of fatal work accidents, ALT constitute 27.3%.
