Risk assessment methods derived from cargo handling
The INSST has just published the technical document titled: "Risk assessment methods derived from manual handling of loads".
The fundamental objective of this work is to present the main methods of evaluating the risks derived from the manual handling of loads and determine which is the most appropriate according to the different handling situations that may be found in the work environment.
The author recalls that manual handling of loads is a task that is present in a multitude of productive sectors and there are professions in which such manipulation can pose a risk to health and safety. It can cause physical fatigue or musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), in addition to exposure to other risks such as falls at the same level, cuts, blows or falling objects and is also closely related to accidents due to overexertion.
All of this makes the prevention of risks derived from the manual handling of loads of special importance in the preventive strategy that companies must develop.
